Most people do this with their time…

They waste it.

They say, oh, I don’t have time to read the books, take the courses, start the business, on and on.

Meanwhile, the average person scrolls social media for 144 minutes, watches television for 294 minutes, and sends 72 text messages … a day!

To paint an even clearer picture for you…

That comes out to 874 annual hours of social media scrolling, or 36.4 DAYS. That’s a full month and a week of JUST scrolling!

TV consumption: 74.3 days/year

Reading books: 3.9 days/year

Never in my life do I want to hear anyone tell me they don’t have time.

We have time.

We have PLENTY of time.

One of the keys to accomplishing your 2024 goals will be how you decide to use it.

It’s imperative that you substantially reduce non-productive minutes and replace them with more productive ones.

This reminds me of an exercise I learned from Darren Hardy.

It goes like this:

Consider your goals and ask yourself these 3 questions:

1. To accomplish my goal, what must I do LESS of?

The obvious answers may be television watching, social media scrolling, and over-budget spending. Maybe you’ll commit to performing less tasks that fall outside of your zone of genius. In other words, instead of trying to “do it all,” you’ll delegate more tasks to others.

2. What will you STOP?

For me, I’m committed to no longer watching random basketball games Monday thru Thursday, unless the Golden State Warriors are playing. The average basketball game is 2.5 hours. That’s enough time to write 5 solid pages, create a pretty sick landing page to grow my newsletter list, or edit 4-5 reels for Instagram. So much more time to get things done, just by STOPPING one thing!

3. What must you do MORE of?

Maybe it’s more reading, more investing, more networking, or more delegating. More saying “no, thank you” instead of saying yes to things you really don’t want to do. More meals at home instead of eating out. More meditation. More yoga. More date nights. More time at the park with the kids.

Be specific! How many pages will you read per week? How much money will you contribute to your index fund on the first day of each month? Exactly which tasks will you delegate? How many dinners will you cook at-home each week? Will you meditate daily or every other day? For how long? At what time? Which day of the week will be your designated date night?

This simple exercise can help you crystallize a clear plan for not only being more productive but super proud of yourself at the end of the year.

It’ll help you become a master of managing your time.
