Ready for another one?

A couple weeks back, I challenged you to practice saying no to things you didn’t really want to do.

So, how’d it go?

Was it as uncomfortable as you’d imagined?

Did it feel liberating?

Or did the guilt set in?

Today, I’ve got another challenge for you. This one will likely push you way out of your comfort zone.

However, I promise you that after a few days of pining and withdrawing, you’ll be a more productive, happier, mentally healthier version of yourself. You’ll even sleep better!

I’m almost afraid to tell you what it is. Chances are you’ll get crafty and make this part of the “saying no” challenge.

Well, Sean, you challenged me to say no to things I don’t want to do. So, umm, no. Not doing this one.

All I’ll say is this…

The time is now 8:56am. I woke up at 6am. And I still haven’t looked at my phone. I’m at the coffee shop. My phone is at home across the street.

If I had picked up my phone, read the texts, and checked the social media DMs, I’d be in a completely different headspace right now.

For example, last Wednesday I fully intended to write one of these posts. But I screwed up and checked Instagram DMs literally 30 seconds after I woke up. Oops.

There was a message in there that got me so irritated that I was no longer in the mood to write. The juices just weren’t flowing anymore. It was like all the creativity had been sucked out of my body by a ridiculous message that I allowed to get under my skin.

Learned my lesson. Never doing that again.

Am I challenging you to forsake your cell phone for 3 hours after rising?

No.

My challenge is to listen to today’s episode with Mel Robbins and to implement ONE of her “5 phone habits”.

Just pick one. You don’t have to do all five. Try it for a week. Let me know how it goes.

In my opinion, mastering your mental health and productivity is almost impossible if you haven’t mastered your phone.
