There’s this thing.

I used to do it every single day. Because I felt like I had to do it.

My pals with internet-based businesses would chide me over not giving up this thing. They’d stopped doing it a decade ago. And they were happier and more productive because of it.

A couple months ago, I finally caved and stopped doing this thing. I delegated it.

And I must say, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Sometimes the most life-changing decision you can ever make is to STOP doing something.

To Nancy Reagan that sh*t and just say no.

I’m much happier today because I made a commitment to saying no. For deciding to not do things that don’t light me up. For putting myself first.

The truth is, I’d been struggling with back pain and headaches for the past couple years. Not long ago, I had to kinda “maneuver” myself out of bed in the morning. Yeah, like an old man.

As soon as I made a commitment to saying no to the things I didn’t want to do, it all went away. No back pain. No headaches. No maneuvers.

And no kicking myself for having my work flow interrupted by a needless Zoom session at 10am.

I have the right to decide what I want to do and not do.

And so do you.

This week, I encourage you to politely say no to things that don’t make you happy.

Yeah, I know there will be work obligations that you can’t decline. But if, say, someone invites you to a holiday Zoom party and you really don’t want to attend, take a pass. Simply say, “Thank you, but I won’t be able to make it.”

Easy peasy.
