There’s this one thing about living your dreams …

And this thing is something that most people are totally unwilling to do.

I like to say that in order to get what you want in life, you have to GIVE UP being the person who doesn’t have it. Or as universal law of correspondence states, what you have in life must correspond exactly to who you are.

So, who are you being?

Are you being the kind of person who does the kinds of things that will result in having the life you’ve been dreaming of?

I mean, that’s how the creative process works — be, do, have. But most people would rather cling to who they’ve been while at the same time expecting a different result. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way.

As Mike Humes explains on today’s episode of The Quote of The Day Show, you have to be willing to make short-term sacrifices today in order to have everything you want long-term.

This past year, for me, that meant skipping the fantasy football season, turning in my bedroom cable box, getting one less hour of sleep, deleting my dating apps, cutting waaaaaay back on social media scrolling, and limiting my downtown San Diego nights to once every six weeks or so.

Because in the grand scheme of things, my goals are far more important to me than who I should be starting at quarterback on Sunday, or who right-swiped me on Bumble. Those things I’m willing to give up (for now) in order to have the things I want.
