Louise Hay had a way of saying simple things that follow you around all day. Here are three of them.

1. What you give out comes back.

Not as punishment. As a pattern. The energy you put into a room has a way of finding its way back to your door. The judgment. The resentment. The generosity. The honesty. All of it. Hold it loosely if you want. But watch how often it proves true.

2. Most of what you believe, you never actually chose.

You’re running on automatic pilot. “That’s just the way I am.” “That’s just how I do things.” Louise pushes on that. Where did it come from? Was it something you were taught as a kid? Because if it is, and it isn’t serving you, you’re allowed to set it down. You don’t need it anymore.

3. Change the belief, and the circumstance has to move.

This is the part people fight. We want the situation to change while we stay exactly the same. Louise flips it. You are the center of your world. The healing starts where you’re standing, not out there. Believe it’s a dog-eat-dog world, and you’ll keep getting eaten. Not because the world is cruel. Because you keep walking in braced for the fight.

So she leaves you with homework.

Catch yourself a few times today. Ask what you actually believe. About money. About people. About what you deserve. Not what you say you believe. What you’re really running on underneath.

Then ask the one question that changes anything.

Where did I learn that? And do I still want it?

You are not your old programming.

You’re just still believing it.
