We’re all looking for answers.

More often than not, we cast about seeking the answers outside of ourselves.

Somewhere … out … there.

No, I’m not about to take you on a stroll down Cliché Road where “all of the answers are within you.”

Because sometimes they’re not.

But if an answer is what we seek, there’s no better strategy than to ask ourselves a question.

Like Tony Robbins says, the quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask.

When you ask yourself a question, you open up a loop in your brain. To your brain, an open loop is like an unsolved mystery. It creates a tension that can only be relieved by serving up an answer or a sudden insight.

For example, if you’re not enjoying your work…

How can I enjoy this more?

If you’re feeling stuck…

What one thing have I not done that, if I did it today, will move me forward?

You’re at the edge of your competence and ability…

Who can help me with this?

It sounds simple, because it is. The power of the open loop is so easily overlooked and forgotten. Feed your brain a question and it will work overtime to close the loop, to deliver the answer you’re looking for.

Easy peasy.
