Business is funny.

When things are going well, people really come out of the woodwork.

They want to “hop on a Zoom call.”

To … “get to know you.”

Most of the time they don’t really want to get to know you.

Nope, they spend the first 20 minutes of the call being uber-friendly. You think maybe you’ve got a new homie. Someone who really gets you. 🙂

But then, all of a sudden, they go into pitch mode.

“Sooo … I’m launching such-and-such product in a couple weeks. It helps these people do this thing. I’d love your support with this launch. Can I count on you to mail your newsletter list about it?”

Ambushed.

The backdoor product launch pitch strikes again.

This used to happen to me all the time. Every so often I would actually say yes. Half the time it would come back to bite me in the butt.

I’d make a boatload of sales for this new pal. But when it came time to fork over my commission, he or she would somehow not have the money.

Their “software” didn’t track the sales correctly and the “audit” would take 3-6 months.

They’d stop returning my emails.

Tip: If this ever happens to you, have an attorney send a stern letter. Your money will turn up all of a sudden. Weird how that works.

The good news is, these kinds of situations can be completely avoided with one single question. If someone wants to do business with you and, when you ask this question, they stammer and stumble over their words, you’d better RUN.

On today’s QOD, the great Dan S. Kennedy reveals THE BIG QUESTION that’ll save you lots of time, money, and stress when it comes to business friends and partnerships.
