I was at Trader Joe’s one day.

I parked out front, curbside, maybe 100 feet away.

I’m a fast shopper, so maybe 5 minutes later I was wheeling my JERF-filled shopping cart out of the store.

I was eager to get to my car so I could tear open my trail mix — you know, the one with the macadamias and dried pineapples — and go to town on it.

I was maybe 10 feet away and … BAM.

The cart just stopped. Wheels locked up. Not going anywhere.

I looked down at the sidewalk and saw a row of little painted shopping carts with lines through them. As if to say … the cart stops here, dude.

So I unloaded my bags, walked the 10 feet, ripped open my trail mix, and went home.

Why am I telling you this?

Because this is EXACTLY how your self-image works.

The way you see yourself is what sets the boundaries for what you will accomplish.

If you’ve ever set a goal, moved toward it, and then … BAM!! … you hit a wall that you can’t seem to get past, that was your self-image shopping cart slamming on the brakes, keeping you from rolling out into the street where the unknown and uncomfortable will surely happen.

To move beyond the confines of your self-image and to accomplish what you want, you MUST extend the boundary. You have to change the way you see yourself.

But how?

Today on The Quote of The Day Show, the legendary Zig Ziglar shares 4 things you can do to widen your self-image radius and take the brakes off of your life.
