As much as we tend to laud the rewards of self-discovery and increased conscious awareness, there can be a dark side.

For many, including myself, the personal development journey emerges out of a deep anxiety about life. We want to feel empowered. To be in charge of our own lives.

And that’s exactly what it does.

But what no one ever talks about is that discovering how powerful you really are — your ability to accomplish anything you want — can give rise to a different kind of anxiety. One that I deal with every single day.

Because when you truly understand that you have creative control over your life, your relationship with time will never be the same again.

You realize how much time has been misspent. And how little time there is to accomplish everything you want to accomplish.

Let me tell ya, when you know who you are and what you’re capable of, there’s no such thing as TGIF anymore. Nope.

Instead you say, “How the f*ck is it Friday already!?”

The more your awareness soars, the faster the time flies. Along with the anxiety of getting it all done while you still can.

I know, there’s nothing sexy about this. But there’s power in knowing that it’s part of the deal. And that it never goes away.

Like I said, everything has its opposite.
