There are two types of people: those who are victims of their circumstances, and those who take responsibility for every aspect of their lives. The former view themselves as effects, while the latter perceive themselves as cause.

I know, life can deal us a bad hand at times. Someone or something pushes us down and brings us to our knees. While we are not at fault for these kinds of negative experiences, it is our choice as to how we will respond. Because taking responsibility doesn’t mean blaming yourself, but rather to be “able to respond” constructively or destructively, with creativity or reactivity, to life’s challenges and circumstances.

On today’s episode of The Quote of the Day Show, Michael Wickett tells the inspiring story of a woman who was dealt a bad hand but made a choice to stay in the game and take responsibility for her own happiness.
