I honestly don’t know what I would have done in this situation …
I mean, I’d like to think I would do the right thing … make the right decision … but what if you’re not really sure what the right thing really is?
When JJ Virgin’s son Grant stormed out of that door, she figured he’d go blow off some steam and return home with a cooler head.
That didn’t happen.
In fact, there was a strong possibility — a 99.75% possibility, in fact — that he wouldn’t come back home ever again.
Grant was found in the middle of a road. Instantly unrecognizable. Fractures in both femurs. Crushed heel. Distal radial fracture. Right elbow fracture. Humeral head fracture. Severe road rash. A torn aorta. Traumatic brain injury. Airlifted to the nearest hospital as a John Doe hit-and-run victim.
Of all of Grant’s injuries, the torn aorta presented the biggest challenge. In reality, he should have died at the scene. That’s what torn aortas do ninety-percent of the time.
Not Grant.
When he needed a second airlift to another hospital for surgery to repair his aorta, the man in the white coat predicted that Grant would never survive the lift. In fact, he gave Grant a 0.25% chance of surviving.
Considering the uncertainty of what their brain-damaged son’s quality of life would be if he indeed survived, I imagine many parents would have taken the doctor’s advice and let their son go.
Not JJ.
She made a commitment to herself, to her son, and to her family that Grant would recover and be better than before.
If you thought you knew JJ Virgin, after today’s episode of The SC Sessions you’ll never see her the same way again.
We went deep, chronicling her uneasy upbringing as an adopted little girl with an unsupported entrepreneurial spirit, a brilliant young woman caught in a web of limiting beliefs, and a mother torn between her business and her two sons.
Find out how Grant’s accident and miraculous recovery showed JJ and her family how strong they really are. And learn how YOU can transform your own mindset to overcome any challenge and obstacle you happen upon in life.
Seriously, I cried like 6 times preparing for this interview. And I don’t cry much. It’s a remarkable story of a mother and her children.
This weekend, kick Netflix to the curb and watch JJ’s new documentary movie, You Are Stronger Than You Think, chronicling the accident, aftermath, and miraculous recovery, for FREE at:
Just be sure to have a box of Kleenex handy when you watch it. 🙂
Enjoy the show and crush your weekend!
What an amazing story and an amazing women. I started turning my health around 9 or 10 years ago and I followed JJ and several others at that time. They were so inspiring and helpful. I just wish I had more time to spend listing to you and them. Thanks for all you do Sean to bring us these pod casts. I can’t wait to watch her movie.
Dy-no-MITE!!! That was super intriguing to listen to!
I have been listening to other interviews with JJ lately (and a few years ago) so I am familiar with the basic story of Grant’s accident, and am planning to watch the documentary this week as well.
You always ask such great questions & take it to a deeper level & I learned more than I knew before about her (about her being adopted, about her family’s life before the accident happened, etc).
Thank you Sean!!
