Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
Everyone.
You. Me. Even the rich. Even the famous.
Even the ones who look like they have it all together, as if they have it all figured out.
The truth is, ALL of us are struggling through something. It’s these battles — the ones we face head-on — that cause us to become the strongest versions of ourselves.
If you ever happened upon Nicole Lapin reporting breaking news or hosting the hit TV show Hatched, you might assume you knew her story, what she was all about.
The youngest anchor ever hired by CNN. Author of a bestselling book. Winner of the Best Money Expert award over household names like Warren Buffet, Tony Robbins, and Dave Ramsey.
Young.
Pretty.
The daughter of a surgeon and a former Miss Israel.
Born with a silver spoon … or so we’d think.
But things aren’t always what they seem. Not even close.
In today’s episode of The Sessions, Nicole opens up and reveals the truth about her chaotic childhood and the heroic paternal influence that instilled within her the mindset and work ethic to become exactly who she is.
I’m often asked what’s been my favorite or most memorable interview. It’s always a tough question to answer. However, from this day forward the answer will be Nicole Lapin. Hands down.
This one isn’t just an Instant Classic. It’s a MUST LISTEN, with more lessons and wisdom packed into a single episode than anything I’ve ever recorded before.

Hi Sean, I can not express enough how much your podcasts mean to me. They are exactly my soul needs right now in order to have the courage to trust in my creator and that transforming to my highest Self is in fact what is going on and believing in the process. You are truly a world changer and I’m beyond grateful. I love how you get through to your interviewees! Brilliant! Keep up with your “crushing it” abilities and you will have a countless number of “crushees” to thank you for getting us up and out of our comfortable, or not so comfortable, hum drum lives and into greatness. The biggest takeaway for me on this one was to stop BSing and get real with what I want in life. You know what I want…I want to wake up each day and cry tears of utter joy I’m alive, make amazing meals with my two young kiddos, film kick ass cooking videos a couple times a week giving families and individuals around the world hope and encouragement in the kitchen, write an adventure cookbook for kids with allergies, tend to my gardens that are filled with bountiful fruits and veggies, eventually get a call from Giada de Laurentiis to get together and cook, travel with my food allergic children to show the world it can and will be done, and teaching specifically themed yoga classes, starting with an all day Erykah Badu class where we just do our thing to the sick beats and lyrics. I’m so pumped about what’s to come in my life and Sean, truly, thank you for being an amazing businessperson and resource! Continue to amaze us!!!!
P.S. I believe Nicole Lapin is your soulmate!!!! I’m just sayin…☺️????
Blessings,
Celeste
I love it, Celeste! I have no doubt that you will receive everything you want in life. Every bit of it. Hold that image of what you want in your mind, write down your goal, and read that goal twice a day (morning and evening). In due time, everything will unfold. I know it!
Hey Celeste Santiago — I hope it ALL comes true!
Thanks Jenn! Me too!! Don’t forget to make your list! ????
Dear Sean
Wow and wow again!!! You never cease to amaze me with your candour and depths, the personal and professional skills you possess to reach deep into the people you interview. I have never heard of Nicole Lapin – I live in Israel and I do not have a TV – and I don’t know about you, but I have totally fallen in love with her. She’s completely delightful, sparky, sooo intelligent and brave, and a real softy. She just simply flowed with you and let you take her into those personal experiences she spoke so eloquently and movingly about. My eyes welled up when she said how much she loves children (I’m a 65 year old retired child psychotherapist) and the work she wishes to do to help them. You’re a star for interviewing her, and if I knew about twitter and other on-line gizmos, I would praise her everywhere. I am sure you will convey my message to her personally.
The new direction you have taken is truly inspiring. Thank you so very much. I’ve been a fan of yours since I first heard of you and watched the Digestion Sessions. You just go from strength to strength and are, in my opinion, the best interviewer on the web. I just love you to bits.
Big hug from Gabriella
Thank you so much, Gabriella! I’ll pass along your sentiments to Nicole. 🙂
So glad you changed to this format of telling stories about people. Really enjoyed this podcast as well. There is so much to learn! 🙂 I have a silly question. Do you read with a kindle or do you read the physical book.
Thanks, Ronda! I’m old school. Physical books only. I like writing in books and highlighting passages. I don’t think I’ll ever stop buying physical books. Love em!

Really wonderful interview. I typically hate anything to do with business or finance, and i never would have looked twice at a book called Rich Bitch—and I would have missed out. This interview put a real story behind a topic that many people don’t get (and therefore avoid). But we need to learn about money–from a knowledgeable, real, and honest person. Now I can’t wait to get the book. Thank you.
What a great job you are doing! You must create some sort of timeline for each interview as you research. It’s interesting how you slow the person down or take them back to the point you want them to elaborate on.The interviewees seem to appreciate your preparation as much as your audience does. I’m enjoying the new format and wish you continued success and happiness.
Loved the episode and love the way you get people to open up to you. That’s such a gift you have. I enjoyed Nicole but had a really hard time understanding about 30% of what she said because of the poor audio on her end (voice sounded pinched), so I will definitely download the transcript. Thank you for the great podcasts! <3
Your genuine and respectful interest in the ‘full story’ of your interviewees, coupled with your thorough dot-connecting inquiry skills, is the very reason that all your sessions fill up with so much love that the interviewee can be transparent and vulnerable while we, the listeners, become awe-inspired witnesses – bottom line: we are all save with you Sean! I love the way you bestow the gift of acknowledgement upon the interviewee, when they probably didn’t expect that to be the ‘bi-product’ of an interview. Needless to say, we are all beneficiaries of your sessions, including your Self. ‘The proof is in the pudding’, you are in your element. Thank you Sean!
Love all your interviews and how inspiring you are. Nicole is clearly one of your biggest fans. My favorite interview is still the one with Bob Proctor. I’d love to see you interview someone who writes about debt and the psychological reasons behind it. Thanks for sharing.
This interview was an awesome way to start my Sunday! After listening to you interview Nicole, my heart, my mind, and my spirit began to open up even more. Last week I listened to your interview with Bob Proctor, I thought that conversation blew my mind but your interview with Nicole, is amazing. You really have a special gift in bringing out the best informations/golden nuggets, out of people.
I will be very honest though, after listening to the first 5 minutes of this interview, I almost turned it off because I didn’t think I was going to relate to Nicole because of her background and upbringing. Mind you, I am a product of both parents migrating to this country and money was never talked about in the home. A little voice in me said “do not turn this off. Listen” I’m just going to take it as it was God’s voice I heard. Within the past few months, especially these past few weeks, I have been praying and having my daily conversations with God about what my purpose is. I did ask Him to quiet my mind and my heart so I can hear Him speaking to me and this is what I got from this interview.
The same points you highlighted at the end of your interview with Nicole, were mine as well. The first lesson I took away from this interview was staying true to my belief. It may not be the belief of many people I am surrounded by but at least it’s my truth. I will continue to stand strong in my beliefs even if others ridicule or just plain ignorant.
Second, your interview with Nicole, gave me the push I need to keep pressing forward to chase my dreams. I am currently enrolled in a Holistic Nutrition program and I was feeling discouraged because learning about anatomy and physiology is like learning Chinese. I felt like a failure for not understanding or the fact I couldn’t retain the information I was reading in comparison to my classmates. Hearing both Nicole and your experiences with learning something new and different, reignited my fire to pick that textbook up and just keep reading until I start to see “arrows”.
Third lesson I got from this was the old cliche of not judging a book by it’s cover. Learning about someone else’s story gives us a clear understanding of appreciating each other as humans who have walked the walked too. It’s not just us who have struggled or is struggling or who is carrying pain while still succeeding in life.
Again, thank you Sean for another amazing interview. I truly benefit from your passion. Keep up the great work. I will continue to tell people about your podcasts.
